Maintenance Manager

General Job Description

Overall responsibility for all aspects of the Maintenance department for both the Palmerston and Stratford locations. As a Manager at TG Minto Corporation you are expected to carry out your assigned responsibilities in a professional manner. These responsibilities are designed to ensure that a high level of productivity is maintained in a SAFE and economical way. Your superior planning and use of manpower and equipment has a direct bearing on the cost of production and therefore the final price of our products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plans, organizes and directs all aspects of the Maintenance departments.
  • Develops good working relationships and attends to the needs of the Maintenance department and TG Minto as required.
  • Works with the Supervisor and Safety Specialist to ensure appropriate training.
  • Supports and directs the Supervisor to ensure engagement, development and productivity.
  • Responsible for all mechanical inspection documentation on existing and new equipment.
  • Works with the Supervisor to prioritize mechanical work assignments.
  • Supervise and coordinate installation, repair and inspection of equipment.
  • Organize, assign and direct day to day activities to maintenance personnel
  • Maintain a documented weekly summary of completed work.
  • Ensure all mechanical drawings and electrical drawings are complete and up-to-date
  • Responsible for planning the activities of Maintenance for exceptional projects such as plant shut-down, preventative maintenance and product launches.
  • Plan and maintain an overtime schedule of upcoming and uncompleted jobs.
  • Communicate with maintenance team regarding all critical equipment changes and updates.
  • Assist in the management of the preventative maintenance program.
  • Report to the HR department, any manpower and/or disciplinary actions that require support.
  • Maintain a monthly work schedule of upcoming and uncompleted jobs that will be shared with all departments.
  • Provide technical advice & assistance to maintenance personnel, contractors etc.
  • Assist in developing procedures and standard maintenance practices.
  • Train personnel in relevant areas as required.
  • Knowledge of applicable mechanical codes, standards and regulations.
  • Strong MS Office skills are required.
  • Maintain job costing for mechanical projects, which should include components and personnel.
  • Collaborates with outside contractors and vendors to coordinate the department needs.
  • Analyze daily mechanical summary in order to determine appropriate plans to address all issues and generate reports.
  • Work in a safe manner and maintain 5S.
  • TG Minto may amend the reporting structure and/or duties and responsibilities as business needs require.

Supervisory Responsibility

You are responsible for providing a SAFE workplace for your team members. It is your responsibility to know and understand the regulations that directly relate to your assigned responsibilities. You must also ensure that your team members know and understand the regulations that directly relate to their assigned duties and the workplace.

Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and recommending corrective action for employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Keep the General Manager informed of all activities within your department.

Education or Experience

  • Have relevant qualification (minimum trade or possible Associate Diploma).
  • Five years of Managerial experience in a production maintenance environment.
  • Strong MS Office skills are required.

  • Hands on trouble-shooting capability.
  • Able to resolve production and project issues in a professional and timely manner.
